FOOTBALL: Patterson unsure of place in tomorrow's Cup final

RORY Patterson remained in the dark yesterday on whether he will play any part in tomorrow's Co-operative Insurance Cup final.

The Coleraine striker was disciplined this week following a dressing room bust-up with team-mates at last Friday night's game with Portadown.

Patterson was subsequently suspended for Tuesday's Carling Premiership trip to Dungannon, and manager David Platt has refused to confirm whether the 25-year-old will play any part in tomorrow's showpiece final with Glentoran.

"We are training tonight, and I have spoken with David Platt. So it is up to the manager whether he wants to put me in for the final. But I am fit and available," Patterson said yesterday.

"We will probably have a chat in training tonight, but I think it has been blown out of proportion. People have made more of it than it actually was.

"It was just players having a bit of an argument with each other. These things happen, and whatever happens in the changing room stays there.

"Now I just want to play football and win."

Patterson came under fire recently after going on a four-day training session with English Championship side Plymouth – a decision that angered Coleraine chairman Hugh Wade and Glentoran chief Aubry Ralph, whose club has already agreed a pre-contract deal with the country's top scorer for next season.
