FOOTBALL: 'Scully' hoping for a surprise or two

THERE seems to be no bounds to Coleraine's attacking prowess.

The Bannsiders struck over 100 goals last term, and if pre-season is anything to go by there should be more of the same this season.

Rory Patterson may have gone, but the additions of Aaron Black, Paul Brown and David Scullion has beefed up an already impressive forward line.

Scullion in particular, who has returned to the Province after a year with Richmond Eagles in Australia, is thriving in his new surroundings.

The 26-year-old has already showed his versatility in the pre-season friendlies and he told Times Sport that he is enjoying life at The Showgrounds.

"Yeah I've settled in well," he said. "The lads have all made me feel very welcome. I already knew a couple of them too which helps.

"It's all going well so far, we've got a good pre-season under our belts.

"We are very good going forward. The front four or five are all capable of grabbing a goal which is great for the team.

"So we should be capable of getting a few this season again.

"There's still the core of the team from last year plus we've added the myself, Aaron (Black), Johnny (Harkness) and Browner who can all nick a goal or too, so we should be a threat to most teams.

"We've managed to grab a few in pre-season and hopefully we can keep it going once the season begins.

"We all want to push on from last season and try and achieve a bit more. I think we've a stronger squad from last season so there's no reason why we can't be more successful.

"It's important that we secure a top six spot in the league this term, it's going to be tight, but we have the squad capable of doing it."

Scullion already has a few goals to his name following his summer move and he has played in several different positions, but where does he prefer to play?

"Left wing would probably be my preferred position but I don't really mind where I play just as long as I'm playing," he said.

"It's good to get a bit of variety. There's a bit of freedom there and it's definitely helping my game."
