18th Newtownabbey end season with 8-1 defeat

Amateur League, Division 1C: An 8-1 defeat at Colin Valley certainly wasn’t the ideal way for 18th Newtownabbey to end the season or conclude Michael Jamison’s tenure as manager.

Valley haven’t dropped a single league point in their own back yard all season so even with a full-strength side, 18th would have been hard pushed to get to grips with a team homing in on the title.

Conceding three penalties wasn’t beneficial to 18th’s cause. One of the spot-kicks resulted in the dismissal of keeper Andy Green, forcing the Old Boys, already 4-1 down, to play the last half-hour with 10 men.

Eighteenth’s goal came from Curtis McCullough’s cross-shot that flew into the top corner.

Unfortunately, Iveagh’s win at Holywood means 18th finish the campaign second-bottom of 1C.
