A fan’s view on the Dixon Park ground-share

Carrick fan Adrian Hack gives us his view on Carrick’s temporary move to ground-share with Ballyclare Comrades.

Unlike last term when the Amber Army had to travel to Seaview for ‘home’ games, the loyal supporters will journey the same distance, only this time, inland to Dixon Park.

Although impatient for a return to their true home, Carrick fans understand the importance of their hallowed ground being fully prepared for the long-awaited return. An improved playing surface, a state-of-the-art development pitch and minor alterations to the stadium itself should be in place later this year.

Dixon Park will provide an excellent interim venue, as it is one of the best facilities outside the Premiership. That never-to-be-forgotten May Day evening in 2011 when the ‘Wee Gers’ were confirmed as Championship 1 winners and clinched the Intermediate Cup at the same time!
