Aaron wins second edition of the battle of the Burns brothers
Last Saturday, Aaron edged ahead in the battle of the Burns brothers as the pair went head to head for only the second time.
Aaron’s Linfield team travelled to Stangmore Park to take on Andrew’s Dungannon Swifts. It was Aaron’s Linfield, who also feature Banbridge lad and former Northern Ireland player Jonathan Tuffey in nets, who came out on top, sealing a narrow 1-0 win thanks to a goal from another ex international Ivan Sproule.
The last time the pair lined up on opposite teams was in February 2012 when Andrew’s Portadown drew 1-1 with Aaron’s Linfield, although the brother in blue started on the bench.
The pair had been team-mates at Portadown in the 12/13 season but then Aaron left to rejoin Linfield and Andrew made the move to Stangmore Park.
