Adair double and late revival secures win for Slane Reserves

Moneyslane Reserves saw off Seagoe Reserves 4-2 at Rathfriland High School 3G in Mid-Ulster Reserve Three action this weekend.

The home team started the brighter, playing some good football and putting the visitors under pressure from the word go. This persistence finally paid off when Davy Cromie rose highest to win a header from a corner which was well saved by the Seagoe keeper but Jonny Adair managed to bundle it goalbound to give Moneyslane a 1-0 advantage.

This seemed to waken the away side as they began to apply the pressure and were unlucky not to draw level only for a string of fine saves from the ‘Slane keeper.

They eventually got their goal 15 minutes before half-time after some indecisive defending from the Moneyslane back-line.

The second half began the way the first ended with Seagoe applying all the pressure. They soon got their rewards for this as a long goal-kick wasn’t dealt with by the Slane defence and Seagoe striker Matty Currie latched onto it to give them a 2-1 lead.

Moneyslane continued to create chances and finally drew level after a brilliant through-ball from Neil Bingham was met by Jordan Fairley who slotted home from 12 yards to draw Moneyslane level again.

The home team drew confidence from this and soon regained the lead from another good finish by Jonny Adair. Moneyslane were now dominating play and ten minutes from time were awarded a free-kick on the edge of the Seagoe box which was coolly finished by Gareth Wilson to end any hopes of the away team taking anything from this game.
