This will prove not only be beneficial to the Ivy Mead youngster and his Institute Under 10 side and Allen can’t wait for the first training session, which starts on Monday, February 4, at Scroggy Road 3G pitch, in Limavady, to get under way.

Allen who apart from training with the ’Stute’s under age teams, also gets extra sessions with fellow young goalkeeper Nathan Gartside.

The 14-year-old, who is the latest lad to get an international call-up after being part of Desi Curry’s Northern Ireland Victory Shield squad, which drew with Wales at Ballymena Showgrounds, last November, also helps at Institute’s Community Mini Soccer training.

“I can’t wait for the training to start and for me to start doing stuff,” admitted Allen.

“I had a lot of training and stuff with Nathan and I had a session with the IFA before I was picked.”

The Lisnagelvin Primary School pupil also enjoys playing out the field but he admits when and if he has to make a decision in which position he has to choose, then sticking between the goalposts with gloves on will be his choice.

“I enjoy playing out the field too, but my first choice will probably be to be a goalkeeper,” he added.

The Pool fanatic also jokingly conceded that if he ever came up against the great Luis Suarez, he certainly would have second thoughts about trying to deny the Uruguayan international.

“I would probably let Luis Suarez score, if I ever got the chance to play against him,” laughed Allen.
