AMATEUR DRAMATICS!

CARNINY Amateurs struck late to move further away from the foot of the Ballymena & Provincial Intermediate League on Saturday.

Anthony McCartney’s side scored two late goals to defeat bottom side FC Ballynure and leap-frog Clough Rangers Athletic in the lower reaches of the Michelin Athletic Club-sponsored championship.

FIXTURES

Ths Saturday, December 15, will see the final games of 2012 played with the league taking a break until Saturday, January 5, 2013.

Matches involving locally-based sides are:

Junior Division One: 3rd Ballyclare Old Boys v Antrim Rovers.

Junior Division Two: 1st Mossley YM v Wakehurst Strollers.

INTERMEDIATE DIVISION

Carniny Amateurs 2, FC Ballynure 1: It was certainly the late late show from Carniny but Ballynure will look back and wonder how they lost a game they led for 60 minutes.

Ballynure went in front on the 27th minute then as half-time approached both teams had a man sent off for falling out with each other.

Ballynure continued to lead and though there were chances for both teams to score Carniny did not get back level until Barry Hamill scored on the 87th minute.

As the game then went into to stoppage time Carniny were awarded a penalty which was successfully converted by Michael O’Mullan on the 93rd minute to win the game for Carniny.

Other result: Dunloy 0, Newtowne 2.

JUNIOR DIVISION ONE

Antrim Rovers 1, Desertmartin Swifts 1: This was a very good game between two evenly matched teams who certainly gave it their all for 90 minutes.

Antrim started off well but had to wait until the 29th minute for their first goal which was scored by Darren Brammeld.

Half-time was almost reached when the Swifts got a deserved equaliser with Nigel Speers scoring on the 43rd minute.

The second half saw plenty of attacking action but try as they did none of the team’s could not find an elusive second goal.

Other results: Cookstown Olympic 5, 3rd Ballyclare Old Boys 2; Glebe Rangers Reserves 0, Tobermore United Reserves 2; Killymoon Rangers Reserves 0, Ballyclare Comrades Reserves 1.

JUNIOR DIVISION TWO

Ballyclare North End 0, Chimney Corner Reserves 5: Corner had the better of the play in the first-half going in at the break leading by two goals scored by Nicky Ryles and Aaron Mitchell.

The second again saw Corner in control and goals scored by Ciaran Faith, Jack Kelly and Ray Kennedy completed the scoring on the day.
