AMATEUR LEAGUE: Knincaid relieved to see Barn inch out of drop zone

At long last, Barn United have inched their way out of Division 1A's drop zone with Saturday's narrow 2-1 victory over Killyleagh YC at Haslett Park.

It was just Barn’s second league win of the season and they are now one point ahead of Killyleagh, but they’re far from home and dry.

Barn boss Tommy Kincaid conceded he was relieved to get the win. “We could and should have been more goals up, but when you miss chances there’s always a danger, especially when the other team pulls one back – and it was squeaky-bum time near the end.”

Mark Tweedie set United on their way with his first of the season midway through the first half, before Andy Kane scored from the spot.

McDonald and Tweedie both missed good chances in the second session to have settled their manager’s nerves, which were jangling even more when Killyleagh halved that lead - but Barn had just about done enough.
