Dale Fenner and Davy Freyne also found the net for Lee McCartney’s men as they inflicted what was only United’s third league defeat of the campaign.

With Davy Rollo gone, there was no change in fortune for managerless Islandmagee who lost 6-2 at home to Crumlin Star. James Doyle (2), Aidan McNeill (2), Barry McKervey and PJ O’Neill were on target for the visitors, leaving the Wilbourne Park outfit marooned at the foot of the Premier Division table alongside Kilmore Rec who have three games in hand.

In Division 1A, Barn United and Larne Tech were left kicking their heels after their matches against Killyleagh and Orangefield respectively were postponed due to waterlogged pitches.

Wellington Rec’s away fixture to Ballywalter Rec was also put on the back burner in Division 1B, but Rathfern Rangers did get to play; they were 4-2 winners at third-from-bottom Bloomfield. Finding the net for Bill Campbell’s men were Dale McManus, Danny Wright, Carl Murray and David Moore.

Mossley were the only East Antrim club in Division 1C who came away with a win in Saturday’s round of matches.

Garry Campbell’s unbeaten table-toppers took a big three points with a 3-2 home win over Bangor Amateurs.

Ricky Moore put Mossley in front only for the North Down men to draw level. Moore was on target again to restore the hosts’ one-goal advantage but back came Bangor to retore parity again.

Lee Graham proved to be the Glademen’s hero of the day after he popped up with the all-important winner.

Elsewhwere, 18th Newtownabbey lost 6-0 at Downshire YM and the misery continues for Newington Rangers who went down 8-0 away to Holywood.

At Glenkeen Avenue, Greenisland’s promotion push in Division 2C was boosted by a 4-1 success against Newtownbreda.

In Division 2C, Stephen King’s Grange Rangers won 4-2 over Ballysillan Swifts. Phil Gregg (two), Robert McFaul, Matti King scored for the Foundry Lane outfit.

Elsewhere, 4th Newtownabbey lost 3-0 at Lower Shankill. Midtable Whitehead Eagles went down 5-0 away to third-from-bottom Suffolk Swifts.
