Amateurs’ girls football returns

AFTER a successful launch earlier this year, Dromore Amateurs Ladies FC - in conjunction with Dromore Amateurs Youth - are back after a summer break to provide football coaching to young girls aged from six up to 12 years.

Coaching sessions will be taking place every Friday from 7–8pm at Ferris Park in Dromore, starting this week.

“We want to introduce girls to the fun of football, in a safe environment, and maybe find the next generation of ladies team players.

“If their big sisters or mothers want to join the ladies team, even better!” said Tracy Orr, the ladies team captain.

The girls will be coached by the ladies management team of Roger McCartan and Neil McMurray. Every week they will be assisted by at least two players from the ladies team.

If there is sufficient interest then the new Dromore Amateurs Youth Girls Section could be competing in a girls’ junior league and tournaments before long.

Dromore Amateurs Ladies FC has been going for over 10 years and is currently competing in the Championship division of the NIWFA league. New players (over 14 years old) are always welcome.
