Amateurs Ladies make it two on the bounce

DROMORE defeated Limavady once more to make it two wins over them in the space of three days.

It was another fine performance by Dromore with Amanda Morton once again being at the heart of the team with another man of the match performance.

Dromore started from were they left off, pressurising Limavady from the start. An early cross from Deborah Douglas gave Laura Magowan the perfect chance to open her scoring account for the season but hit over when well placed. The next chance once more dropped to Laura from an Amy-Louise Graham corner but headed narrowly wide.

Limavady almost took the lead after 25 minutes against the run of play with their first opportunity but when well positioned the shot was comfortable saved by Michelle Stevens. The next chance fell to Dromore almost straight away. A Tracy Orr free kick was hit high into the net but was left by everyone, almost dropping into the far corner of the net.

Dromore finally took the lead their performance deserved on the stroke of half time. A long pass upfield by Tracy Orr was headed into the path of Deborah Douglas by Laura Magowan, finishing low into the corner from 18 yards out.

After half time Dromore continued to press but with Amanda Morton well placed eightyards out she wasn’t able to get a decent shot away and the ball was easily cleared in the end.

Dromore doubled their lead after 65 minutes, as once more an Amy-Louise corner provided the goal, with Kerry Taggart heading in from 10 yards out. Straight from the kick off Kerry Taggart broke free and the on rushing keeper won the ball but hurt herself in the process and took Kerry down. What happened next was comedy football as everyone stood still, Deborah Douglas walked up and happily slotted home to put Dromore three up.

In a rare attack by Limavady they managed to pull a goal back as a cross in was headed goalwards with Michelle Stevens stranded. In the end it didn’t matter as Dromore continued to press but weren’t able to add anymore to their tally after Dani Creaney and Deborah Douglas both had good opportunities to extend he lead.

With two fine victories in a row and after moving up to fourth in the table Dromore will be hoping to do better against their next opponents YMCA than their previous encounters with the Derry team.
