Amateurs underage teams are back in full flow with much more than football on offer

Dromore Amateurs Youth Football Club (DAYFC) is back in full flow after the summer break.

With all the kids still excited from watching the recent World Cup over the summer, it hasn’t taken long for the next Neymar and Messi to be seen strutting their skills around Ferris Park.

With over 150 kids on the clubs books, DAYFC continues to go from strength to strength and hold various training sessions throughout the week at Ferris Park, Dromore under the floodlights on the Astroturf.

Friday Nights at Ferris Park you will find the younger players of the club from 7pm to 8pm. The various groups are split up into age specific groups and the club cater from P1 to P7 age groups.

The club also have a high number of girls who attend on a Friday night for football training with the long-term view of establishing a girl’s youth side to represent the club, however girls up are also welcome to integrate into our current teams and play up to U14 level.

DAYFC is more than just a football club. Each year we take on ambitious projects, including collecting for and making up hampers for families in need in our Community around Christmas time.

The children are rewarded with special activities at Christmas time; younger children enjoy a trip to Cheeky Monkeys and individual teams usually decide on other activities such as Laser Quest.

Each year we encourage teams to go on an ‘away trip’ to participate in football tournaments and enjoy the experience of playing away from home.

With this being the club’s 9th year since being formed, exciting plans are afoot to mark the clubs 10th Anniversary in 2015. Watch out over the next few months for some exciting activities and events to mark this occasion.

The club also continue to do various fund raisers throughout the year to raise money for local charities whether it be; bag packing, quizzes for parents and sponsored walks.

As each year comes to the end of a season we hold an annual fun day for our members which is a big day out and our end of year Prize Giving Ceremony where every member receives a trophy to mark the year with DAYFC culminating with a BBQ for family and friends.
