Another defeat and another step closer to the relegation fight for Dollingstown

On a near perfect surface at Planters Park it was Queens who went away happiest with three deserved points.

The first half was very poor by both sides with limited goalmouth action with only three real efforts by both teams.

Queens nearly went in front on four minutes when centre back Chris McIlwaine headed over at the back post and on 14 minutes only a superb save by Shane McParland kept out a Matthew Hughes pile driver from the edge of the area.Indeed it wasn’t until the 40th minute that Dollingstown threatened when from a Jamie Tomelty corner as skipper Moffett headed over the bar.

Then on 51 minutes Queens went in front when young Aaron Rodgers headed into his own net from a free kick and a minute later it was 2-0 to Queens when captain Moffett lost out on a challenge on the touch line to centre forward Stuart who was very lively all afternoon and from his cross Hughes finally got the goal he deserved.

Manager Gary Duke then replaced the injured Richard Thompson with Glenn Hand and also Tomelty with Lavery plus Coleman with Norton.

This seemed to breath new life into the Dollybirds who got themselves back in the game on 73 minutes when Lavery converted a penalty after a hand ball in the area.

However despite a Denver effort being cleared off the line from a corner this was as good as it got for Dollingstown.
