McREYNOLDS LEAGUE CUP: FC Ballynure were edged out on a 2-1 scoreline away to Carniny Amateurs. FCB took a 19th-minute lead but an injury to Mark Spence saw proceedings halted for a time as an ambulance was called to take him to hospital.

The visitors held their slender advantage until Matthew Shevlin, making his Carniny debut, set up Tyrone Balmer to level matters in the 75th minute.

When Adam Whitehurst’s 30-yard screamer hit the top corner five minutes later, Carniny had booked their spot in the next round.

O’GORMAN CUP ROUND 2: Rathcoole booked their spot in the next round with a 3-1 win over Newtowne. The visitors had two big chances to take an early lead but they were denied by keeper Kenny Langley.

Brian Black struck to put Rathcoole in front in the 20th minute but they had to wait until the 61st minute to doubled their lead thanks to Gareth Bond.

Newtowne found a way back through Ryan Logue but Jordan Armstrong’s 90th-minute goal wrapped things up.

JUNIOR DIVISION ONE: Mallusk Athletic got the better of second-bottom Carnmoney FC with a 3-1 win on Saturday.

After a scoreless first half, Joe Ward put Mallusk in front before a Ross Middleton penalty doubled their advantage. When Jamie Dodds netted a third just minutes later, there was no way back for Carnmoney, but Darren Jordan did net a late consolation.

JUNIOR DIVISION TWO: Ballyclare North End moved to within a point of fourth-placed Moyola Park Olympic with a 5-1 win at the weekend. A Ryan Davey double put them two up at the break and Russell Lynas added a third early in the second session. Moyola’s Darren Scullion pulled one back on 65 minutes but two Robert Watson goals capped a comfortable victory for North End.

Elsewhere, FC Whiteabbey defeated Sport and Leisure Swifts 4-3.
