AUDIO: McAlinden on Irish Cup tie with Carrick

Larne will host rivals Carrick Rangers in the fifth round of the Irish Cup.

The draw, made this morning in Belfast, pits the in-form Inver Reds against the Steel Cup finalists.

The two teams last met in the league in August when Carrick emerged as 2-1 winners at Taylor’s Avenue.

Speaking to compere, Jackie Fullerton, at the draw, Rangers boss Gary Haveron said: “There will be no extra motivation needed for the players. It is a game that sells itself.”

Larne manager Davy McAlinden said: “We’ll be looking forward to it and we’ll prepare as we always do. When we get the Dundela game out of the way we can turn our focus to it and hopefully get to the sixth round.

“I think we have to fancy ourselves going on current form being at home, it’s a tie that we can definitely win and we’ll be looking at it that way. As ever, we’ll be going out and trying to take the game to the opposition.”

The tie is sheduled to be played on January 10 at Inver Park.
