Ballybogey lose out to Harryville in Junior Cup

BALLYBOGEY travelled to Ballymena to play Harryville Homers in the Junior Cup on Saturday and were beaten 2-1 after extra time.

‘Bogey started the game the better and had a couple of chances to take the lead. Homers could have led after a shot hit the bar and fell to their striker but excellent keeping from Chris Mooney kept the score level .

It was ‘Bogey who took the lead when James McLaughlin raced forward to get on the end of a cross only to be denied the goal when the defender poked the ball into his own net.

‘Bogey led 1-0 at half time but five minutes into the second period had William Beckett sent off and on seventy minutes the Homers got their rewards for continuous pressure when they got the equaliser .

Harryville could have gone ahead on a couple of occasions but for good defending from the ‘Bogey back four.

1-1 at ninety minutes and the game went into extra time and in the first half the Homers got a second goal after their striker latched on to a pass and put the ball into the net.

Ballybogey believe they could have had a penalty late on but it was not to be.
