Trussell has rediscovered his scoring touch, scoring four goals in three appearances during last month’s league fixtures.

He netted twice in the 3-3 draw with the Welders. He scored once in the 4-0 win over Donegal Celtic and was on target again in Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Annagh United.

“This award means a lot to me, especially after having a disappointing season last year,” Trussell told the Times.

“I had decided last year to change career and re-train to become a teacher which involved me travelling back and forth to university a lot in England. This meant I wasn’t able to train as much as I’d have liked.

“On top of this, I spent four months on the sidelines with a ruptured medial ligament.

“And early this season I welcomed my baby daughter, Amelia, into the world so it has taken time for me to get back to full fitness.

“I’ve since been training hard and have reaped the rewards the last couple of months and finally feel like I’m back to full fitness. Everyone at the club has been very patient and supportive of me and it feels good to be able to start repaying that faith now.

“The team has only been getting stronger over the past couple of months and really we aren’t far away now at all. We’ve been unlucky in games but being back to full fitness gives me the confidence to get back to my best scoring form and help the boys to push on from a very positive November.”
