Newtowne went in front after a good move which saw Gary Moore finish off a good four man move on the 20th minute. Newtowne then doubled their lead on the 28th minute when Gary Moore outpaced the Brantwood defence before rounding Keeper Dempster and slotting the ball into the net. Things then got better for Newtowne on the 30th minute when after a corner kick the ball came out to Ryan Logue who hit a first time right foot shot into the top corner of the net from 20 yards out. Gerard Logue then had a good chance to increase the Newtowne lead but put his shot wide when well placed on the 36th minute. After this Brantwood had a great spell on attack and were unfortunate when a Ciaran Carson shot came off the post then a goal bound shot from Steven Bainbridge shot was tipped over the bar by Keeper Brown. With game then into first half stoppage time Newtowne failed to clear a corner kick with the ball dropping for Ciaran Carson to pick his spot to score reducing the deficit to two goals at the break.
