Ballymena And Provincial Football League update

TWELVE games survived the recent wintry conditions on Saturday and it was a relief to get the season underway again. Hopefully Saturday next will see all the planned games being played.

The Reserves got off to a flying start after Joe McDonald scored to put them in front on the 3rd minute then doubled this lead on the 19th minute after Ross Neeson scored. Raceview then got going and had a couple of good chance to score but failed to take them and then went further behind after Aaron Lennon converted a penalty on the 38th minute. Half-time was almost reached when Philip McBurney scored for race view on the 45th minute to bring Raceview back into the game. The second half saw race view try hard to get another goal but the Reserves were in no mood to give anything away and at the end still had their two goal cushion.Referee Mr David Walker

The home side were soon into their stride and took the lead after Darryl Blair scored on the 13th minute then more gals scored by Graham Pratt on the 20th minute and Jackie Moore on the 25th and 30th minutes saw Newtownabbey in command at half-time. The young Corner team tried hard to get back into the game in the second half but three more goals scored by Jackie Moore on the 65th and 70th minutes and Darryl Blair on the 80th minute completed the scoring on the day.Referee Mr Trevor Higgins
