“Our team is lacking in experince, Ballyclare have that, and it was plain to see on Saturday.”

The game got off to a very slow start. Ballyclare declared their intentions from the start as they pressed forward still smarting from the defeat handed out by Ballymoney a few weeks ago.

The visitors took the lead on six minutes when Agnew netted after a good move down the left. Ballymoney were still coming to terms with the early setback when the Comrades struck again on ten mins. Hill tapped in from close range giving Moore no chance.

Ballymoney settled and came close when McClelland put in Reid to bring a great save out of Huxley in the visitor’s goal. On the counter attack Ballyclare came close when Brown beat Moore in the home goal but Ballymoney’s Wilkinson cleared off the line.

The visitors grabbed a third on 20 minutes. Monteith beat Moore with a rasping 20 yard drive. With the first half coming to a close, Ballymoney finally took control of the game. And they were rewarded when Huxley fumbled in to the path of Kearney, he squared for Lyons who tapped home from close range.

The second half was a closer affair with both defences on top. Kearney and Thompson combined well and the partnership should have resulted in a second for Ballymoney.

Ballymoney piled on the pressure, however Huxley proved too strong in the visitors goal, and dealt well with any efforts. McGowan sealed the win for Ballyclare in the 75th minute when he poked the ball under Moore. The final score Ballymoney 1-4 Ballyclare
