Ballymoney United boss John Fall looking forward to draw for next round of Irish Cup after defeat of Newington

Ballymoney United boss John Fall is dreaming of a plum draw in the next round of the Irish Cup after a 3-1 away victory in Belfast against Newington YC at the weekend.

Gerald Gillan grabbed two and Dermot Larkin was the other United scorer as they overhauled a 1-0 deficit at Seaview to book their place in the 5th Round of the cup with the big boys of the Irish League.

Fall told Times Sport: “I am delighted with this win. The players put in a great performance and showed we are as good any other Championship Two team and I would like to especially thank the fans who travelled up to support us. Now I would like a big draw and it would be great to be at home or to have a good day out on the road. We played Ballymena in the League Cup and enjoyed ourselves and we want more of these type of games.”

Magherafelt and Dunloy shared eight goals and the points in the McReynolds League Cup game. Ciaran Monaghan scored a hat-trick for the Sky Blues and Michael Devlin got their other goal while Chris Smiley, Karl Fitzpatrick, Duane Scott and an own goal saw Dunloy take a point from the game.

* BALLYBOGEY

Ballybogey dropped their first points in the league this season when they played Dervock on Saturday morning .

It was a typical derby where both teams really wanted to win the game which finished 1-1 with ‘Bogey’s scorer being Andy Mooney and Dervock’s Corey Simpson.

It was a good game for the big crowd .

Ballybogey officials believe they will need to get missing players on the park for the top of the table clash next week away to Ballycastle.
