Both teams made a cautious start at the Riada Stadium with Ballymoney claiming most of the early possession, but suffered a setback on 8 mins when Walsh cracked a free kick from 18yards round the wall and past Moore into the corner of the home goal to put Sirocco 1 nil up.

Undeterred, Ballymoney continued to dominate playing attractive possession football and were rewarded on 13 mins when a great move down the right saw McKinley cross for Gillan to equalize with a glancing header at the back post past Reid in the Sirocco visitors goal.

Ballymoney came out in the second half in a positive manner and asserted their authority from the start pinning Sirocco back in their own half.
