Ballynure Old Boys edge it in seven-goal thriller

Ballynure Old Boys endured sustained late pressure - including a penalty conversion - at Clough Rangers Athletic in a Ballymena and Provincial League Intermediate Division to record a 4-3 victory.

David Nicholl had Clough leading 1-0 at half-time and three minutes after the interval Peter Kenny doubled the home team’s advantage.

Ballynure got cracking, with Marc Leckey scoring in the 55th minute, followed soon after by John Davey and Ronnie Burns.

Ballynure went two goals clear through Terry Lyness in the 74th minute and 10 minutes later before Nicholl scored from the spot for Clough.

Gareth McGrath put Ballynure in front after 20 minutes, but Martk Shields equalised three minutes from half-time and neither side conceded in the second half or in extra time.

Ballynure scored all their first five penalties to Desertmartin’s four.
