Former Rangers forward Lee Feeney has started his managerial career.

The 38 year-old has taken over the reigns as manager of Banbridge Rangers after the resignation of Richard McMinn at the end of the season.

Feeney hit the headlines almost 20 years ago when his starring performances for Linfield earned him a six figure move to Glasgow Rangers in December 1998.

Feeney was catapulted into Dick Advocaat’s first team squad amongst the likes of Kanchelskis, Amoruso, Albertz, Van Bronchurst, Numan, Gattuso and Barry Ferguson to name a few. Feeney made his debut against Dundee United in a 4-0 win but that was to be the only senior appearance he made for the club.

After a loan spell in Australia with Northern Spirit, Feeney returned to Northern Ireland with Linfield before moving on to several clubs including Ards, Bangor, Newry City and Shamrock Rovers.

His thirst for the game continued and he has played for some local teams during recent seasons, most recently pulling on the white shirt of Rathfriland last season.

Joining Feeney at Cheney Park will be Glenn Moffett in the role of Assistant Manager whilst Nathan Dodds will continue his work as First Team Coach and Jason Hillis will stay on as Team Attendant.
