Bannsiders look for finishing touch

The Bannsiders dominated the game against Dungannon Swifts but they failed to take their chances and paid the ultimate price as Chris Lavery’s strike won the game for Darren Murphy’s side.

“It just wasn’t good enough,” Kearney told Times Sport.

“You ask people to do jobs around the pitch and striking is a job, you’re there to score goals and we didn’t do that today.

“Shane’s chances, as much as he didn’t mean to miss them, you have to put them away. That’s the level of responsibility on his shoulders now and to be fair to him he is usually a very good finisher.

“That’s the life of a striker. You’re up one game and down the next. He’s disappointed with the first chance, but that’s football he just has to pick himself up and get on with it again.

“It was one of those frustrating days when it just looked like it would only be a matter of time before we got the goal.”

The Bannsiders entertaine Ballinamallard this Saturday who had their own day to forget as they went down 11-0 at Portadown.

“They will be looking for a reaction and we know what Ballinamallard are capable of as they hit us for five in a game last year. I don’t know what happened them at Portadown but 1-0 or 11-0 it doesn’t really matter as we both have come away from our games with no points,” said Kearney.
