Bannsiders still waiting to hear Carson’s decision

ORAN Kearney is hopeful that Stephen Carson’s future will be sorted out this week as Coleraine bid to try and bring him back to The Showgrounds.

The Bannsiders spoke with the talented wide man last month about returning to the Ballycastle Road following his release from Glentoran. However, Linfield are also in the hunt for Carson and this has held things up.

Kearney though is hoping that it will be resolved sooner rather than later with the new season looming large.

“I spoke with Stephen three weeks ago but there has been a hold up elsewhere,” he told Times Sport on Sunday.

“It’s not ideal with the new season less than a month away so I hope it can be sorted out this week.

“I know Stephen is anxious to get things sorted as he wants to get started with his new club. Hopefully it will besorted out this week one way or another.”

Meanwhile, Kearney said he was delighted the Bannsiders will be on Sky Sports again this season after it was revealed they will be involved in the first live game of the new campaign.

The cameras will be at Solitude on Monday 2 September as Kearney side take on reigning champions Cliftonville.

“It’s great news for the club,” he said. “There is always a great atmosphere at the Sky games and I’m sure this one will be no different.

“We have had some memorable games on Sky over the years and I’m sure this one will be no different,” he added.
