Bates extends Glenavon contract

GUY Bates has signed a new one year extension to his Glenavon contract.

The 26 year-old forward has made a good start to his career at Mourneview Park and has already earned himself an extention to his current deal, which now lasts until June 2014.

Glenavon boss Gary Hamilton was pleased to tie down his new signing for another season.

“Guy’s been great since he came in and we’re delighted that he’s extended his contract,” he said.

“I’d like to thank the board for making the deal happen as it’s a great move for the club.”

Bates has already looked a top player since joining the club in the summer and has netted three goals in his first eight games.

The move is sure to delight Blues’ fans with rumours already surfacing of interest coming in from other clubs for the former Drogheda front-man.

Bates, of course, will soon be joined up front by Derry City’s record goal-scorer Mark Farren, who joins Glenavon in January.
