BB football success for Ballyloughan and Broughshane

THE five-a-side football finals of the Ballymena and District Battalion of the Boys’ Brigade was held recently in Ballymena Leisure Centre.

Several Companies battled their way through to this stage with this being the final decider.

Results were as follows:

15 and under: 1st Broughshane 0, 6th Ballymena (Baptist) 1; 2nd Ballymena (Wellington) 0, 7th Ballymena (Ballyloughan) 2; 1st Broughshane 0, 2nd Ballymena 1; 6th Ballymena 0, 7th Ballymena 1; 1st Broughshane 0, 2nd Ballymena.

Ballyloughan, having completed their progranmme undefeated, were the winners, with Ballymena Baptist being runners up.

18 and under: 1st Glenwherry 0, 2nd Ballymena (Wellington) 2; 1st Broughsahne 2, 9th Ballymena (Ballee) 0; 1st Glenwherry 0, 1st Broughshane 2; 2nd Ballymena 2, 9th Ballymena 0; 1st Glenwherry 1, 9th Ballymena 0; 2nd Ballymena 0, 1st Broughshane 0.

At the end of the play-offs 1st Broughshane and 2nd Ballymena (Wellington) finished with the same points and goal difference.

With the excitement building it went to penalty kicks but this could not separate the battling teams.

The sudden death rule had to applied with 1st Broughshane becoming the victors.

All in all it was a fine evening of sport and a good advert for Boys` Brigade activities
