Ben at the double to give Town U14s derby victory

The Juniors went ahead after only five minutes at Cheney Park last Friday night from their first meaningful attack.

Ben Johnston picked the ball up on the right wing and he went at the full-back to the end line before cutting in, beating his man again and from a tight angle slipping the ball under the oncoming keeper for a brilliant individual opener.

The Juniors, however, took their foot off the gas and Rangers began to see a lot more of the ball - passing it wel.

It was only a matter of time before they’d get an equaliser. This goal came when a speculative free kick from 35 yards sailed over the head of keeper Jonathon Cartmill to leave the sides level at the break.

Owen Vennard was having his best game in a Juniors jersey as he chased, tackled and sprayed passes from centre midfield and really was the stand out player of the first half.

With the introduction of Cameron Frizell in the second half, the Juniors upped the tempo and forced Rangers back.

It all paid off as they took the lead again when Ben Johnston was on hand to rifle in his second of the game from just inside the area. That was after some neat build-up play involving William Doogan, Shea Winters and Frizell.

Rangers again replied a short time later when a goalmouth scramble led to their equaliser to tie the scores at 2-2.

With 15 minutes left on the clock, Town went forwards looking for a winner to cap their season off in perfect fashion.

After sustained pressure, they got their third when Frizell scored an absolute peach when he volleyed in a corner from just inside the box high into the Rangers net.

As the Blues went in search of yet another equaliser, they left themselves open at the back and Town capatilised when they got their fourth to put the result beyond doubt.

It came from a brilliant move that resulted in Shea Winters beating his man before clipping the ball over the keeper to the delight of the large Town support.

This was superb team performance from the Town side with every player giving their all to end the season on a high.
