Big night in store for United’s Shield final mascots

IT’S not just Ballymena United’s players and supporters who are looking forward to tonight’s County Antrim Shield final with Linfield.

Two local youngsters will be closer to the action than most in the build-up to United’s first knockout final for six years.

Stuart Gordon and William Francey have been selected to be United’s mascots for the big clash against Linfield.

Seven-year-old William, a P3 pupil at Camphill Primary School, plays for United Youth Academy’s mini soccer school.

Stuart, aged nine, from Ahoghill, attends Fourtowns Primary School and plays his football at Coaching for Christ in the village.

He is a member of the Junior Sky Blues supporters’ club and his favourite English team is Chelsea.

Both Stuart and William list David Cushley as their favourite Ballymena player.
