“The Bannsiders looked to have turned a corner following a disappointing sequence of defeats. Their victory over Ards and Saturday’s 2-2 at the home of champions Cliftonville in the cup had Kearney feeling positive ahead of the replay and league games this week against Warrenpoint Town and Glentoran.

“This is a really busy period we are heading into now,” Kearney told Times Sport.

“The games will be coming thick and fast over the next two months and they are all crucial games in both league and cup. I certainly won’t be looking at the cup replay before we get Tuesday night’s home game with Warrenpoint and Saturday’s game at Glentoran out of the way.

“We’ve had a tough run of results towards the end of last year but things are starting to turn. The hunger and enthusiasm is showing away, we are loloking more like my Coleraine again.”

The Bannsiders entertain Warrenpoint tonight (Tuesday) with the Milltown outfit currently one point ahead in the table. Kearney says the incentive to close the gap on the teams above them is firing them on.

“We have the big incentive of reeling in the teams above us including Warrenpoint if we can start picking up points,” he said. “We are under no illusions though that it is going to be a tough game. Warrenpoint have been excellent over the last couple of seasons and they are now finding their feet in this division.”
