Blayney completes move to Glenavon

The former Linfield goalkeeper played 45 games for the Blues after moving from Ballymena, but after losing his place to Jonathan Tuffey he went on loan to Ards.

With Andy Coleman released, Gary Hamilton was keen to bring in a top goalkeeper and he is delighted at Alan’s arrival,

“To get a player of Alan’s quality and experience is fantastic,” said Gary. “He is a top goalkeeper who has played in England and at international level so it is a great boost for the club.

“Alan also has that winning mentality and has enjoyed success with Linfield. He comes in with all those attributes but he will have to compete with James McGrath for the number one spot.

“James has been exceptional for us since he came and with Alan on board it now means we have competition for a key area in the team. They will battle it out in pre-season to see who gets the nod for the first game of the season.”
