Blues flop again in front of cameras

Club boss Marty Quinn was frustrated with a fourth disappointing display from his players but says that they must raise their game in any future live television performances.

“No, no, we wouldn’t reject it. Bring it on again,” he said.

“I don’t think the cameras should make that difference. I can’t say it’s anything to do with them. I don’t know, it’s so frustrating but I would be making excuses if I blamed the cameras.

“I made excuses after the game at Seaview but I’m not making them now. Players should go out and play even better and put more effort in than they normally do when the cameras are there.”

And club chairman Adrian Teer says he would also welcome another chance to host the cameras at Mourneview Park, declaring Monday’s night’s occasion an ‘outstanding success’ apart from the result, of course.

“We would certainly welcome Sky back to Mourneview Park,” he said.

“From a presentational and organisational point of view, the game was an outstanding success and to attract people such as the Sports Minister, the Lord Mayor, the Chief Executive of the IFA and Nigel Worthington to a Glenavon match is good for the status of the club. It’s good to see the Sports Minister and the Lord Mayor supporting the local game.

“Gerry Armstrong (Sky Sports commentator) told me after the game that Sky were delighted with the quality and the entertainment of the match.

“We had worked very hard to gain additional revenue from the game too with pitch-side and programme advertising as well as having mascots for the game.”
