Boss geared up for Linfield test

It may not be a competitive game, but the opening outing ahead of their historic first season in the Carling Premiership is as appetising a clash as there could possibly be in local football – and manager Stephen Small and his new-look Carrick Rangers squad are looking forward to Saturday’s test of character against Linfield.

Indeed, one of the new signings who is unfortunately not available for the trip to Windsor is said to be extremely regretting the clash of the big game with his pre-booked holiday.

“Probably like a lot of our supporters, I’d been especially looking forward to seeing Grant Hutchinson in action against Linfield but he had the holiday organised quite a long time ago and he’s desperately disappointed to miss the game.

“You couldn’t ask for a better opening friendly. They have won the league and cup double five times in the last six seasons and they have, by far, the best panel of players in the country.”
