Kee, who in recent weeks has been harsh in his criticism about his players work-rate against side, believed they rolled their sleeves up and deservedly seen off the Belfast men.

“The performance was better than it has been in the last couple of weeks,” stated Kee.

“We had more effort, urgency, belief and understanding, but the players attitude and application was what was required and they deserve credit for that because I have been the first to jump on them for that recently.

“We knew Welders teams are always full of effort and commitment, so we wanted to work as hard as we could and put them on the back foot and that’s what we did.”

The ’Stute manager also felt Robbie Hume, Darren McFadden and Paddy McLaughlin’s goals came at the right time in the match.

“We got the goals at a good time, we got the first early on and that gave us a platform to build.

“The second goal was always going to be important and we got that and when they scored it could have gone wrong, but it didn’t and fortunately Paddy scored a third.”

Kee was also pleased that his team didn’t panic when Ryan Deans’ deflected goal cut their lead and he was thrilled they showed composure, which in turn claimed them an important victory.

“We haven’t seen games out this year. It’s about developing an understanding and we did that on Saturday.

“There are times when we should be taking the sting out of the game and we talked about that and we did that against Welders.

“We would have liked a few more wins in there but you can’t have everything. we’ve had to dig deep and work hard and that’s what we did,” concluded Kee.
