Boss hoping Town can build on their point in the coming weeks

He was pleased that his side’s performance was at least an improvement on their previous game, a dismal 4-0 defeat to Dollingstown.

At least the point they picked up was a better return than that outing and Watson reckoned the performance was more than a little bit more pleasing.

“We were a massive bit better,” he said.

“We didn’t turn up against Dollingstown so it was key that we got the performance levels up immediately after that.

“Of course, we were going all out for the win on Saturday and we should have got it. We had plenty of chances.

“We could have been two or three up at half-time and if we had got that second goal, I think we would have gone on to win the game.

“Their goalkeeper made a few really good saves to keep them in the match.”

Town have a habit of falling behind early in games this season but Watson was pleased that theme was reversed.

He said: “It was nice to get an early goal for a change but then their equaliser was more down to our defensive errors than anything else.

“At least we got something out of the game, which gets us stabilised after that bad defeat to Dollingstown.

“There were a lot of positives to take out of the game.

“We were the better team against a side who are fighting for their lives at the bottom of the table and the result can at least give us a foothold to push on and move up the league table now.”
