Boss keen to keep Addis at Taylor’s Avenue, but McCloskey is off to USA

Michael Hughes says he’s keen to keep Jonny Addis at Taylor’s Avenue next season.

The Carrick lad, who picked up three awards at the club’s end-of-season dinner, was the club’s top scorer last term.

Said Hughes: “I’d love to have him here again when the new season starts but he’s still thinking about
his future, probably with a few clubs keeping an eye on his situation. I want to keep him and, if advising him as a neutral, I’d be suggesting he should have another season to continue his development with Carrick.”

One player unlikely to be at Carrick at the start of the new campaign is Conor McCloskey, who is off to work in America.

“He’s a super athlete and came to us as a winger,” added Hughes. “He has great pace and is a terrific tackler and we put him into right-back and he has been brilliant. I have told Conor he will have a future in England as a right-back, and I firmly believe that is the case. However, he has promised that, if he doesn’t go, or heads off and decides for whatever reason to come back, he will come to Taylor’s Avenue.”
