Former Banbridge Town man Michael Ferguson came off the bench to tee up Slane’s last gasp equaliser, showing just why manager David Johnstone said he is ‘genuinely pleased’ to welcome the full-back to the club.

“While I did not know Michael personally, I have seen him play on numerous occasions.

“Michael has played well over 100 games at Championship level which is incredible experience for a player still in his early 20s. While he is probably best at right back, I know he can play right midfield as well so it is great to add to the choices.

“Michael is exactly the type of player Moneyslane needs to attract for the future - young, talented, local and hungry to win silverware.

“I know Michael will enjoy it here and I am sure he will become a fans favourite in the years to come.”

Ferguson joined Banbridge Town Juniors at the age of nine and made his debut for Town’s first team at 16.

“The current squad of 16 is very good but we have 17 league games and at least two more cup games so Darragh and I both felt if we could bring another player in we should,” continued Johnstone.

“When I heard Michael was leaving Town I immediately got in touch and thankfully Michael chose to come to Jubilee Park. I want to thank Ryan Watson and Banbridge Town for allowing the transfer to go ahead just hours before the deadline.”
