Boss unhappy with first half display

INSTITUTE boss John Gregg was fuming that for the second week in a row his side failed to turn up in the first half against Ballyclare Comrades, on Saturday.

The Coleraine man felt just like their previous game at Ballymoney United, the Waterside out-fit didn't really start playing until after the break.

"The first half I was furious about, I said to them they did it last week at Ballymoney and I'm not going to put up with it again and if they want to start playing in the second half then there's something badly wrong," he said

"They have to play from the start and because of that I was annoyed at half-time.

"We equalised and I thought we could have nicked it because we pegged them back, but it didn't come.

"I wanted more from the game, as we had won our last three games and were getting a wee bit of momentum.

"I think whenever we scored with 15 minutes remaining I felt we could have nicked it. Instead of going back to four at the back after we scored the goal I told them to go on and try to nick it and there were two or three real clear cut chances that I think we spurned."

'Stute were reduced to ten men early in the game when Graeme Taylor was shown a straight red card after a poor challenge on Scott Irvine and Gregg had no complains with the dismissal.

"I saw the tackle from the back so I didn't really see it properly, I don't think the boy was that badly hurt, but I'm not defending Graeme (Taylor) because I wasn't close enough to the incident.

"Because of his sending off I have no full-backs in the squad, in fact the only two defenders I have in the squad are Graham Crown and Ryan Browne.

"We are playing Ryan (Semple) and Eddie (McIntyre) at full-back, because we don't have anyone else, but we are getting away with it at the minute."

To make matters worse summer signing Vinny Sweeney suffered a bad injury and is likely to be out of action for a number of weeks.

"Vinny is in a bad way and I have just been told that he has punctured his lung and broke his ribs before.

"He couldn't breathe or lay on the stretcher he landed on the keeper's knee and he was in a bad way, but they got him into the ambulance, so we'll have to wait and see how he is, but hopefully the lad is alright."
