Boyce set for return?

Boyce has been told he has no future with the Glens, news that has prompted both Portadown and Coleraine to express an interest in the striker.

Boss Eddie Patterson hopes a solution can be sought in the coming weeks to end the current impasse between the player and his employers.

“Darren knows he has no future at the club,” Patterson said.

“He has had offers from Coleraine and Portadown, and now the ball is in Darren’s court.

“He feels that the money both teams are offering is not up to his expectations, which is unfortunate because it has been made clear to him he won’t be playing for Glentoran.

“It seems he is prepared to sit and lift his wages, which is unfortunate. He has two years left on his contract and it would be better served if he played his football elsewhere.

“We are not putting a price on his head. We are open to options including a loan period.

“Portadown wanted to make it a two-season loan while Coleraine want him on a permanent basis. We have made it clear we don’t want a fee.”

Patterson also rubbished speculation that Stephen Carson could be set for a move away from the Oval.

Carson has been linked with former club Coleraine in the past week, but Patterson said: “Stephen has made it clear that he is very happy at Glentoran.

“It is merely newspaper speculation, he wants to be part of this club for the next two years.”
