The Dubliner confirmed that French Guinean defender Marvin Torvic will be jetting in for pre-season training, which gets underway next Friday.

Collins admitted that talks are ongoing with Tim Clancy, while Carlisle United’s Leon McSweeney and Bradford City’s Carl McHugh could also move to the Brandywell.

While a Crystal Palace winger, who had a spell with Conference side Barnet recently, is also thought to be on his way to the Maiden City.

“I’m meeting a player at the Brandywell on Monday morning,” stated Collins.

“I have arranged to go to Celtic on Tuesday and see if I can arrange something in regards U21 players coming on loan, while Crystal Palace have contacted me in regards possible taking a winger on loan.

“I feel we conceded too many goals last season so we need to get some defenders in and the player I’m speaking to on Monday can play in both defence and on the wing, while I feel we maybe need another midfielder, right winger and a striker, but I’m confident we’ll be able to get players in.

“I’m not one of those managers who loves big squads of around 20-25 players, I want a squad of players who can operate in a number of positions.”
