Brad’s the man as Rangers win U16 Banbridge derby

Rangers opened the scoring midway through the second half. A goal kick from the Town keeper was held up in the wind and fell to Ryan Woods who, with one touch, played the ball through to Bradley Harper to finish.

Coming into injury time Banbridge Town grabbed the equaliser when Rangers failed to clear the ball in defence and the Town player finished past Craig Robinson.

With the game going into extra time Banbridge Town had the advantage of the wind and momentum from scoring late on and were able to grab a goal at the start of extra time.

Minutes later saw the turning point in the game, when Rangers player Andrew Trimble was played through on goal he was brought down by the Town defender who received his second yellow after previously being cautioned.

With only three minutes to go Bradley Harper was brought down just outside the box. Up stepped Matthew Dodds to take the free kick and blasted the ball low and hard past the Town keeper.

With the momentum now with Rangers they pushed on to get the winner and did so in the final minute to deny the dreaded penalty shootout.

Bradley Harper was involved again when his shot was parried by the Town keeper with the ball falling kindly to Andrew Trimble to slot home to the delight of the boys in blue.

MOTM was Bradley Harper who continuously caused the Town defence problems, involved in all three goals.

This Saturday Rangers take on Annagh United hoping to make it 19 games unbeaten in the Mid Ulster League.
