The Candystripes missed a host of clear cut chances with Patrick McEleney, Michael Duffy and Rory Patterson all missing good chances, in truth on another night Peter Hutton’s men would have ran out comfortable winners but for Rovers keeper Barry Murphy’s display.

However it was Pat Fenlon who was celebrating his first victory as Rovers boss thanks to second half goals from Ronan Finn and Dean Kelly.

After the match at the Tallaght Stadium a bitterly disappointed Philip Lowry spoke to Sentinel Sport’s Editor Kevin McLaughlin.
