This week he has been handed a new contract to take his stay at the club up until summer 2016.

The club have won five of their opening eight league matches and are sitting top of the Irish Premiership table.

Hamilton has thus been rewarded with the new player/manager deal and says that will also mean an extended stay at the club for his backroom staff.

“While I’m at the club, they’ll be at the club, that’s for sure,” he told the ‘MAIL.’

“I’m delighted to stay and I’m delighted for the backroom staff. Without Windy (Paul Miller), Nigel (Law) and Reggie (Hillen) I wouldn’t be able to do my job. Nigel does all the training and Windy helps me with the management side. They allow me to get on the pitch and play.

“Reggie’s brilliant with the goalkeepers and he’s a very intelligent man as well. He can read players very well and that helps us to get the right type of people at the club. Reggie can detect a player with a bad attitude very quickly.

“Davey Maquire, Brendan Grimes and John McDowell have helped us to bring players to the club as well. Davey brought Rhys Marshall and James Singleton here and John brought in players like Robbie McDaid.

“They’re doing a lot of hard work and I want to say thanks to them as well. Without them, my job would be impossible.

“The reserves were at the top of the league when I came but the first team were at the bottom. That doesn’t add up. It’s about developing players, not results at reserve team level and all the staff are of the same mentality.

“We’ve given more teenagers their debuts over the last 18 months than any other Irish League club. There’s a bright future for the club.”
