Broomhedge get back to winning ways

BROOMHEDGE Reserves were hoping to get back to winning ways at home this week after the disappointment of the away defeat last week to Richill.

The home side started off lively enough and should have done better with chances from Gary Mason and Peter McCurley just shooting wide in the opening 15 minutes.

Lurgan started to get more into the match and started to close down the Broomhedge attackers and cutting out any danger. Broomhedge were especially good at set pieces and were dangerous from the long throws of Wayne Donaldson that were like corners for the home side and forced the Lurgan keeper to make a couple of good saves.

The home side started the second half meaning business and really kept the pressure on the Lurgan defence. With 15 minutes remaining another long throw by Donaldson was met by the head of Addis at the far post and put into the net to make it 1-0 to the home side.

Within 5 minutes Lurgan could have equalised only for the agility of the home keeper Gavin Prince making a point blank sublime save to his right to make sure the 3 points stayed with Broomhedge Reserve. The match ball this week was sponsored by Carville Engineering.
