A first-half hat-trick from Ronnie Burns put the home side firmly in the driving seat at the break before Josh McIlroy and Nathan Gray ensured that they collected all three points.

The result lifts the Old Boys up to fifth in the Ballymena and Provincial League’s Premier Division, while FC remain second-bottom with one win from six.

This weekend both sides are out of action as they have requested a free date with the league. That gives another local team, Rathcoole FC, the chance to climb the table when they take on Newtowne. A win would see The Diamond-based outfit leapfrog their opponents and draw level on points with Ballynure Old Boys.
