Just five weeks after their Irish Cup win over Ballymena United, the Lurgan Blues players are fired up and can’t wait to get back.

“All the players are buzzing and bursting to get started again, even though we are back a little earlier than normal because of Europe,” says coach Nigel Law.

“The fact we ended the season on such a high has kept us really focused.

“We will have a full squad session next Saturday and continue that with midweek training during the next few weeks.”

Nigel also confirmed winger Adam Foley will join in the sessions as he continues his rehabilitation after missing all of last season with a knee injury.

“It was a massive blow losing Adam in pre-season last year but he has battled back and our target is for him to be fit and pushing for a first team place within the first few weeks of the season.

“It’s like having a new player getting Adam back and hopefully we will see the best of him this season.”

Manager Gary Hamilton and his backroom team are planning a couple of friendly games before their Euro ties and a full programme of warm-up games, including the game with Leeds United, are still to be finalised.

“We have contacted Leeds United and are waiting on confirmation of the date,” said club chairman Adrian Teer.

The friendly at Glenavon was agreed as part of Robbie McDaid’s transfer to Leeds United.

The chairman, along with club treasurer Frazer Follis will be heading to Nyon, Geneva for the Europa League draw on June 23.

The Glenavon AGM will be held on Monday 30th June at 7pm in the Bedeck Suite, Mourneview Park.

The Victoria GSC AGM will be held on Friday 30th May at 8pm, all members are asked to attend.
