Bushmills hit seven during Dunaghy clash

Bushmills United downed Dunaghy 7-3 in a thrilling encounter at the weekend.

Bushmills started well and went ahead after 5 minutes. A shot came back off the crossbar and Gareth Kane reacted first to head home.

On 20 minutes Rowen Neill broke clear but was impeded by Bartlett in the Dunaghy goal on the edge of the box.

From the resulting free kick Adrian Thompson made it 2-0.

Soon after an excellent corner from Trevor McLernon was flicked home by Nicky McCook for 3-0.

Dunaghy pulled one back through Darren Ramsey before Adrian Thompson fired home his second for 4-1.

Dunaghy finished the half brightly and Lee Gault made it 4-2.

After the break Dunaghy played good football but it was Bushmills who extended their lead.

Ryan Moffitt outpaced the defence and unleashed a great shot into the net for 5-2.

At this stage Bushmills introduced their subs and one of them - Gareth Hanna - made it 6-2.

Dunaghy never gave up and they were awarded a penalty when the Bush defence failed to clear, which they duly scored to make it 6-3.

With 5 minutes remaining Gareth Hanna showed excellent skill to volley home from 30 yards out to make the final score 7-3.

A hard fought 3 points for the league leaders against a spirited Dunaghy side.
