BUYA U-10s in 6-1 win over Northend

BUYA U-10S 6 NORTHEND 1 (McCollum 4, Dallas 1, McLaughlin 1)

Ballymoney and Northend started the match with purpose and enthusiasm. Ballymoney, within the first 5 mins got on the score sheet with a goal by McCollum, which was to be the first of many for McCollum. Stinson was unlucky not to have scored the 2nd goal of the match, but this did not deter his determination to work hard. Northend were not for putting their heads down yet and came back to score. However, Ballymoney were on fighting form and were hungry for success. Great play from Stinson, Dallas & McLaughlin in midfield allowed McCollum to capitalise and make the score line 2-1 in Ballymoney’s favour. Ballymoney missed a few chances from corner kicks & Dallas’s attempt was kept out by the cross bar. Still, Ballymoney battled on and their efforts were rewarded by another goal from McCollum to make up his hatrick. Northend were pushing towards the Ballymoney goals but the ever reliable defence of Maybin, Kirk & goalkeeper, McMullan, proved too strong for Northend to break down.

BUYA U11’s v Moyola Olympic Won 1-0 (McComb)

After a rest week last week due to the transfer test Ballymoney U11’s this week went into battle against Moyola’s U 12 B team Olympic. With Ballymoney sitting near the top of the league and Moyola at the bottom on paper the result looked to be in Ballymoney’s favour. The start of the game was rather scrappy with Money struggling to settle into their usual passing style of play instead finding themselves getting sucked into Moyola’s long ball play. While Money were not at their best they were still proving a handful for Moyola and took the lead through Adam McComb who after a Ballymoney throw won the ball in the penalty area and managed to keep the ball under control to finish well leaving the keeper no chance.

Ballymoney should have taken the game on from here but despite creating chances the 1st half finished 1-0.

During the halftime turnaround the ‘Money players were urged to impose their own footballing style on the game and did this in patches, ‘Money centre forward Joel Christie with his pace and off the ball runs proved a constant threat and although man marked for large periods of the game constantly won the 1v1 battles and on another day could have had a hat-trick.
